Port of Reykjavík
Port Information, Terminals and Facilities
(Reykjavík, Gullbringusysla, Iceland)

The Port of Reykjavík is a very important port, not only for Iceland but also for the entire North Atlantic region. Iceland's reputation for natural beauty and stunning landscape brings in many tourists on cruise vessels. Cruise ships, cargo ships and other vessels keep Reykjavík's port busy almost year round, simply because it's the primary means of goods and people arriving on this isolated island.

The Old Harbour (Gamla Höfnin) is divided into the west harbour (Vesturhöfn) and the east harbour (Austurhöfn).

The port provides limited facilities, including public telephones and toilets. Reykjavik itself is relatively small for a European capital and unusual due to the lack of vegetation, as well as the adjacent volcanic landscape. It has a distinctly low-rise appearance and is dominated by its port.

Port of Reykjavík Information: Ferry Services - Reykjavík, Gullbringusysla, Iceland
During the summer, direct trips to Iceland are possible on board cruise ships. Alternatively, cargo ships, which have a limited number of cabins, are also available for passengers. Eimskip, a cargo shipping company, provides cabins on board the Godafoss and Dettifoss. The ships sail every two weeks between the harbour in northeast Reykjavík and the Faroe Islands.
